Blessings in Adversity

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials; knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing” James 1:2-4.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie Ratzlaff and Sharon Hoskins share how truly the trials of life can be the sweetest moments of blessings. Sharon talks about her recent battle with cancer and the lessons God taught her through some of the most difficult days of her life. She shares how God gently changed her perspective on her personal life and molded her heart with tender mercies. James 1:2-4 is the most quoted scripture when a person is going through trials, and we tend to hate to hear it when it is spoken to us during those trials. But, the beauty of those verses gives us encouragement to seek God through every moment even though we can’t see clearly the purpose for them.

Loneliness: How to Be Alone but Not Lonely

This week on Sharin’ Hearts: The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green discovers the contents of Loneliness: How to Be Alone but Not Lonely by June Hunt.  God has placed within each of us a basic need for a relationship with him and with others; therefore, our longing to belong, is natural. You may feel like the entire world has abandoned you; as if no one understands your pain and sorrow, but the Bible promises that the Lord is with you always!

Do you know…

· How being alone and being lonely differ?

· What leads to feelings of loneliness?

· How to identify situational causes for loneliness?

· What are the mental and physical symptoms of loneliness?

· How to overcome feelings of loneliness?

If not, come be a part, as an author and biblical counselor, June Hunt, helps us find answers to these questions in her book, Loneliness: How to Be Alone but Not Lonely.

Peace from Prison Part 3

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” Philippians 4:13.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon conclude Philippians Chapter 4 where Paul shares peace from prison with the saint in Philippi.

Peace is not a commodity that we can buy and sell, peace is a person. So what Paul is saying is that he has learned to be content because he knows in whom he has entrusted his life. Many different circumstances have proven that Jesus Christ has always been sufficient. When we develop a solid relationship with God then peace can rule in our hearts. So forming a habit of spending time with God will help us find that close relationship and in that we will know Him, trust Him, and peace is the result.

Peace From Prison Part 2

“Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved” Philippians 4:1.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon continue their discussion in Philippians Chapter 4 where Paul shares peace from prison with the saints in Philippi.

Division can cause us to be separated from all that peace has to offer. Paul teaches us how to bring back unity among the brethren.

They take a trip to Revelation Chapter 3 to look at what Jesus said in His letters to the churches. We can get so busy and wrapped up in all that life throws our way that we too can lose our first love.

Peace From Prison Part 1

“Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved” Philippians 4:1.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon move into Philippians Chapter four where Paul shares peace from his prison cell with the saints in Philippi.  Paul wants them to know the value of standing fast in the Lord in difficult situations; it would defeat the enemy.

Peace at any price, but we can’t buy peace. Peace is something we all long for but seems to be out of reach. God gives peace in the midst of difficult situations.

Perseverance from Prison Part 3

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” Philippians 3:14

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon continue in Philippians Chapter 3 where Paul is sharing perseverance from prison.

Paul is saying that we can have something that is out of the norm here on earth if we are willing to go for the prize and the priority that Jesus Christ called us to.

He also gives us warnings that it will cost us something to be in the race. There is a sacrifice that goes along with reaching the goal and receiving the prize.

Overcoming Doubt

“Be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” Romans 12:2.

Conforming to the world involves aligning your attitude, belief, and behavior with that of the world. The mind is where all thoughts are processed and decisions are made; such as beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors. Renewing your mind is the vital key to overcoming doubt. Janie and Sharon discuss how doubt has become a common and acceptable practice in Christian Culture. Janie gives several ways that doubt is rationalized by Christians today. If you don’t train your thoughts with truth from Scripture, then your thoughts will train you to be double-minded, doubtful, unruly, uncertain, confused, and completely lost about who you are. Jesus is the answer to finding your true identity.
