Learn the Bible in 24 Hours

This week on Sharin’ Hearts: The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green examines “Learn the Bible in 24 Hours” by Chuck Missler.

The New Translation in Everyday English expresses 11 Timothy 3:16 as follows:  All Scripture is breathed out by God and useful for teaching, for conviction, for correction and for disciplined training in righteousness, in order to make the man of God adequate, and fully to equip him for every good task.  This is the heavenly solution for our earthly problems. However, to be able to use this precious resource we need to be in the Word and a student of discipline study to glean all that is available to us, NOW.

Proverbs 3:5-7 gives us sound advise to Trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not unto our own understanding, but in ALL our ways acknowledge Him and he shall direct your paths.  Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.  It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.

What joyful exhortations we are given to make our center of reading and study the Word of God.   Chuck Missler has combined decades of personal living in the good times and not so good times to provide us with a tool that short cuts years of random searching into a detailed outline giving us a foundation to move forward with knowledge of what is taking place from Genesis to Revelation.

Today’s recap from Ginger Green will draw the hungry heart and seeking soul into an expanding world often gone unnoticed by most.  Learn the Bible in 24 hours has a study guide, workbook and videos to start a home study or study within your church.  If we claim ignorance or indifference to digging into the Bible, we will find that we are the loser and our lack of discipline may impact ours and others destiny.  That should never be the case when such a great resource as this is available to us.  Thank you, Chuck, for a life that fought the good fight, finished the race, and shares in the Eternal Glory of our Triune God for all Eternity!!!

Taming the Tongue

“Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks” Luke 6:45

This week on Sharin Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon tackle the little member of our body that is hard to tame – the tongue. Taming the tongue is a challenge that we all face, probably on a daily basis. It requires constant monitoring and careful discipline.

The heart is the center of who we are, what we think, how we express and choose. Our beliefs, in our nation, in our culture, even in our church are changing. The beliefs and principles that we once held so dear are now being thrown in the trash and considered outdated, ignorant, and narrow-minded.

A few years ago, Judge Robert Bork wrote a book called Slouching Toward Gomorrah, but today, it seems that we are not slouching but running a race of endurance with the greatest deception, division, and moral decay. Our beliefs are the beginning of what will eventually come out of our mouth because they come from the heart of who we are. If we filter everything through God’s word then we would be able to better tame our tongue.

When You’re Tired of Treating the Symptoms

This week on Sharin’ Hearts: The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green grabs a favorite; “When You’re Tired of Treating the Symptoms, and You’re Ready for a Cure, Give Me a Call” by Dr. Henry Brandt. We search for relief from our problems, instead of searching for a cure. Anything that will achieve temporary rest from anger, fear, frustration, unforgiveness, and bitterness.  It is a repetitive cycle of survival and we become addicted to the short-term escape.

There is a long-term cure and the first step of “cure” is to SEE  your need in the problem, call it what it truly is and ACCEPT the need as your wake-up call for change. The word for this process is repentance; to turn from the old thinking, emotions,  and actions.  Repentance consists of confession of sin and submission to the authority of Jesus Christ. Because of God’s cleansing grace, healing comes.  Learning to see the need and not excusing with some popular modality is a big part of the challenge.  Follow Dr. Brandt through the maze of not treating the symptoms, but finding the real cure.

Developing Christ-Like Character

“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found to praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ” 1 Peter 1:7

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon discuss how adversity and trials compare to the purifying of gold. How we handle the fire could determine if we end up with a wounded heart or a broken heart. Developing Christ-like character comes through the fire of adversities and trials. It seems that it would be a sweeter life if we didn’t have to go through the fire of adversity and trials. However, without the fire, life would be filled with many little impurities. Some of them are so small that we don’t even know they exist until they rise to the top in the heat.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures: He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul: He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies: You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever” Psalm 23

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon are talking through Psalm 23. In six short verses, we almost get a “how to” course for how the Lord wants us to live. We are sheep, sometimes we do act out of character, but the Lord calls us sheep and He is our shepherd. We find strength and comfort, guidance and understanding when we get alone with God. David was obedient to learning in isolation.  If you have been set aside then it can be a blessing to hear God more clearly.

The Shepherd is always present in the valley He has called you to walk. He is equipped to bring you through the valley in safety. He is carrying you so don’t give up. Personalize these verses to make them real for you every day. God is the Good Shepherd.

Blessings Out of Buffetings by Alan Redpath

This week on Sharin’ Hearts: The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green pulls “Blessings Out of Buffetings” by Alan Redpath from the shelf to examine.

Paul’s 2nd letter to the church at Corinth is the account of a man who is being disciplined and matured. Nowhere does Paul open his heart to his readers so completely as he does in the second letter, as he relates some of God’s dealings with him in his inner life revealing something of what it has cost and some of the precious experiences which have brought him great joy.

Alan Redpath, in his study of 2nd Corinthians entitled, Blessings Out of Buffetings, clarifies Paul’s words and applies them to the life of the Christian. He discusses the joys and rewards of giving, the definition of a Christian, the purpose of discipleship, the meaning of separation from worldly entanglements in modern society, the significance and quality of true repentance, the reality of a final and absolutely true judgment – all in the radiant assurance of the inexhaustible grace and power of God.

His accurate, warm, paraphrased portions of Paul’s words reveal the author’s own understanding of and sympathetic response to Paul’s experience and make his words alive today for the believer in Christ.

Redpath counsels, “any of us who would be followers of the Lord Jesus Christ must expect the buffetings: from within and from without; from our foes and our friends; from Satan, who would seek to attack on every possible quarter the man who is set upon being the best of God. Life is full of it, and the question that arises when the buffeting comes is, ‘have I really got what it takes to stand, or will I become a spiritual casualty?’”

Encourage Without Wounding Part 3

“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb” Psalm 19:7-10.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon continue their discussion on how to encourage each other without wounding each other. They focus on the encourager and talk about what it takes to be an encourager to others.

They talk about the life of St. Patrick and how he was kidnapped as a young man and enslaved as a shepherd. There is a great comparison to the life of King David as a shepherd; they both grew close to the Lord in the shepherd’s field.

It is a great lesson for us to find a place that we can call our “Shepherd’s Field” and get alone with God. We will find that we can be encouraged by the Lord and filled up with Him before we go try to share Him with others.

The Incredible Patience of God-Continued

This week on Sharin’ Hearts: The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green continues through “The Incredible Patience of God” by Lane Adams.

Tragically, many Christians spend most of their life in a build-up process and never break out.  Don’t let this be you! It is appalling that so often the church has become the guardian of the status quo, all the while preaching a gospel of never-ending change. What an irony this is!

If you want to know how to guard against never breaking out… If you want to know how to navigate the long road to spiritual maturity and avoid some of the common pitfalls… If you want to take a detailed look at the apostle Paul’s life- a prime example of this crucial process…

If you want to find hope and reassurance that a closer relationship with God is possible … Then I hope you’ll join us as we seek out the answers found in The Incredible Patience of God.

Encourage Without Wounding Part 2

“To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He has made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” Ephesians 1:6-7.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon focus on the wounded saints. Wounded people sometimes have a hard time reconciling the way scripture instructs us. Spiritually, we can be admitted to the hospital where we can end up fighting the “treatment” or we can follow the orders that God gives us in order to get well and free.

Many times when we are wounded by other Christians, it causes us to not trust God; whether we are looking to that person as a reflection of God or we are looking for God to reflect in them. So, it is vital that we understand that learning to trust will increase the recovery time.

And, as always, forgiveness is key to overcoming wounds and moving forward in the victory of life. A great resource for forgiveness is www.forgivingforward.com.

The Incredible Patience of God

This week on Sharin’ Hearts: The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green introduces us to “The Incredible Patience of God” by Lane Adams.

Many believers become discouraged with the long process of growth in their walk with Christ. In fact, today’s featured author believes it is “the rare spiritual prodigy” who moves rapidly to spiritual maturity.

In this book, Lane Adams urges Christians to seek a balance between asking for forgiveness and being accountable. The Incredible Patience of God will help Christians rethink their beliefs about sin and repentance, while reassuring believers who are sincerely seeking a closer relationship with God.

The purpose of this book is to bring comfort and understanding to all who named Jesus as Lord and Savior. May it’s message free many believers to patiently enjoy the maturing process as God is working in their lives. It is designed to bring a fresh biblical understanding of conversion and growth, and thereby to bring relief to the person who keeps wondering, “how come it’s taking me so long to get better?”

Encourage Without Wounding Part 1

“To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He has made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” Ephesians 1:6-7.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon discuss the ways we can encourage without wounding the person in which we are attempting to encourage. We can all relate to this topic either by being the wounded or being the one who has wounded.

Remembering where the encouragement comes from is the key. Our own words will not help encourage anyone. Our own love toward them is insufficient. Our own perception will be skewed. Sharing God’s words with God’s love as we see people through God’s eyes. He is our hope and our comfort so through Him we can share both.

It’s easy to get caught up in what we “think” should be done but only by prayer can we know that we are doing what’s best in everything.

The New Life

This week on Sharin’ Hearts: The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green takes “The New Life” by Reginald Wallis from the shelf to examine.
“Should a Christian expect and experience constant triumph, every day and all day, over sin and self? Is the victorious life really practical, or is it just an attractive subject for conference gatherings and an interesting topic for discussion? Is it merely a pet theme for extremists and fanatics, or is there actually a sane, Biblical experience of practical triumph within the reach of every believer, irrespective of temperament, circumstances, environment, or changing times and conditions?
Many Christians are asking these questions today. Faced with the never-ending antagonism of a threefold enemy the allurements of the world, the insidious outworkings of the
flesh, and the subtle devices of the devil all combining in a terrible assault against the testimony of real Life, the whole matter constitutes an acute problem for Christian ethics.”
This book summarizes profound and timeless answers to these soul-searching questions.

The Heart of God-Encouragement

…be at peace among yourselves. Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the faint-hearted, support the weak, be patient toward all men. See that none of you render evil for evil to any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men” 1 Thessalonians 5:13-15.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon discuss the heart of God in encouragement. Sometimes encouragement means that we should warn others of the danger of their actions, attitude, words, etc. Sometimes encouragement means upholding the weak or comforting the faint-hearted. An encourager must know how to discern when to warn, uphold, and comfort. Encouragers can help bring healing to an individual and to the body of Christ. The purpose is to keep the unity of believers together with God.

The Trouble with Jesus

This week on Sharin’ Hearts: The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green takes a look at “The Trouble with Jesus” by Joseph Stowell.

Jesus declares He is the ONLY WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE.  In establishing this once great nation, His rule book the Bible was the foundation for our founding fathers.  Today, in a post-Christian society we have reduced the God of Creation, Jesus Christ, to a tradition that now competes with other significant religions within our society.  Now, man declares, through his own understanding, that all gods are good gods and our jaded culture says this is the new normal.

All worldly religions have their leaders in graves; only Christianity has arisen Leader.  Our society will let Him live if we don’t speak of Him publicly or make any claim of His deity.  Make no mistake, Jesus is unequaled. He doesn’t compete.

To say that ALL religions are true means no religion is true.  Are we ready to stick up for Jesus and be His advocate, anytime, anywhere?

If you want to know how to speak the Truth that Jesus is the only way, how to speak it humbly and compassionately, how to speak it wisely and patiently in ways that honor Jesus, then prepare your heart to be steadfast in being light overcoming darkness. THE TROUBLE WITH JESUS is a great guide to achieve this.

The Heart of God-His Natural Attributes

“O Lord, You have searched me, and known me. You know my downsitting and my uprising, You understand my thought afar off” Psalm 139:1-2.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon tackle the three O’s of God’s character (Omniscient, Omnipresent, & Omnipotent) which are His natural attributes. The all-knowing, ever-present, power of God gives us confidence in His ability to work in our lives. “Where shall I go from Your Spirit? or where shall I flee from Your Presence?” David writes in Psalm 139:7. We can count on God to be with us at all times. God knows our thoughts even when we can’t describe how we feel. When situations and circumstances are beyond our control, we can trust God has the power to make everything work for good.  It is important that we recognizing God in our life so we don’t reject what He has to offer.

Full Assurance

This week on Sharin’ Hearts: The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green grabs “Full Assurance” by H.A. Ironside to explore.

There is a saying “Peace at any price” but most will not adhere to the certainty of peace because it does have a price.  The only one who can give full assurance of true peace says there are several absolutes for obtaining and enjoying the luxury of resting in your current circumstances and knowing joyful peace and calm.  Our society has done away with absolute thinking and accepted our own truth for having peace. This leaves us on shaky ground.

When doubts and fears arise to control our thinking and actions, our confidence in trusting anyone that offers peace with full assurance is dismissed as fantasy or out of date thinking. The Gospel message and the character of the Godhead are up for grabs as our logic and reasoning become our final authority and override the health manual of the Scriptures; as many regards that tool also out of date.

Full Assurance, by Dr. Harry Ironsides, realigns our thinking based on facts in faith. These are proven certainties readers can discover in choosing  Christ over the deception of the devil, or our fleshly desire.  This is a fascinating read with many stories and applications for encouragement to step onto the path of peace for whatever holds you from FULL ASSURANCE. From getting out of darkness, being set free from torments, finding hope to grow, standing on a solid foundation and handling the crisis of unplanned trauma or loss that we all may face, but all the while having the confidence to be well pleasing in all we do is the theme of FULL ASSURANCE.

The Heart of God-Provider and Protector

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures: He leads me beside the still waters” Psalm 23:1-2.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon discuss the heart of God as provider and protector of His flock.

Focusing on God as Shepherd in our life, Janie shares some interesting facts about how a shepherd cares for sheep that we can all relate to as God’s sheep.

It is important to cry out to the Good Shepherd for the things we need. We can find healing in the Word of God; it will supply all that we need. However, we tend to seek comfort from other sources (food, shopping, liquor, friends) before we cry out to the Lord for help in our struggles.

A Christian Manifesto

This week on Sharin’ Hearts: The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green pulls “A Christian Manifesto” by Francis Schaeffer from the shelf to examine.

Most of the Christian world of today know little or nothing of a biblical world view regarding life.  We may know scripture or have a sincere desire to serve the Lord; however, we lack an understanding of how to view life through biblical eyes. For this biblical world view, we need to use the word of God to define our decisions and actions regarding circumstances, situation, relationships, and choices that need to be made each day of our lives.

A Christian Manifesto is not an easy book to assimilate into the fabric of one’s daily walk.  It is a book that is worth making a commitment to read and understand the erosion in our world culture.

Christians have been slow to see the decay of values.  This is mainly due to our dividing between our “spiritual” and the “material” worlds.  True reality is the Lordship of Jesus Christ in every area of life.

What it is to know the True and Living God in a practical way; opening our minds, strengthening our convictions and consciences to impact ourselves and those around us.

The Heart of God-Who He Is

“And beside this, giving all diligence, add to you faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge” 2 Peter 1:5

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon discuss who God is according to scripture. We all tend to have an idea of who we would like for God to be in our lives but it is important to remember the truth of His real character.

In relating to God as Father, most of us compare His qualities to those we have seen in our own earthly father. If he was distant, we see God as distant. If he was passive, we see God as passive; and so on.

When we know what God looks like we are more likely to recognize Him when He shows up in our lives.  We sometimes have a perception of God that does not match who God really is, so the truth about His characteristics can bring us into a closer relationship with Him.

The relationship “test” is available to download.

9 Must-Have Conversations for a Doubt-Free Wedding Day

This week on Sharin’ Hearts: The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green takes the book “9 Must-Have Conversations for a Doubt-Free Wedding Day” by Gary Thomas and Drs Steve and Rebecca Wilke and gives us an inside look.

There are a lot of challenges in life but making and keeping a happy marriage is a rare art form.  Less than 1% of marriages worldwide ever make it to the 50 year anniversary.  Expectations for an intimate relationship most of the time are based on desires, personal needs and wants.  When those are not fulfilled the pain and disappointments of living exposes our true character and independent personalities. People are not prepared to preserve and sacrifice for what they once held so dear.

Having the RIGHT premarital counseling can establish the priority of any marriage and set the goals for a couple that will thrive and not just survive in a “me first” society.  Marriage wasn’t created just to make us happy, but to merge two lives into one for the ultimate glory of God.  Helpful hints from this book can make falling in love a life long passion for staying in love.

Perseverance from Prison Pt. 3

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” Philippians 3:14

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon continue in Philippians Chapter 3 where Paul is sharing perseverance from prison.

Paul is saying that we can have something that is out of the norm here on earth if we are willing to go for the prize and the priority that Jesus Christ called us to.

He also gives us warnings that it will cost us something to be in the race. There is a sacrifice that goes along with reaching the goal and receiving the prize.

The Porn Problem

This week on Sharin’ Hearts The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green tackles “The Porn Problem” by Vaughan Roberts. Sex is not simply recreational; it is profoundly relational.”  In just two short generations we have moved to a widespread adoption of liberal values, many that conflict with the Bible. Believers are finding themselves to be the misunderstood minority, and feeling at odds with where the world seems to be heading.

It is not just Christians who are worried about the tsunami of porn that has hit our society. Social commentators, medical professionals, and concerned individuals point to the negative impact it is having on body image, relational health, and development of adolescent sexuality. Porn wears many different faces and affects both sexes leaving many with shame and nowhere to find the door out of the driving desires that consume their lives.

There is a way out from the passion of porn. The author, Vaughan Roberts lifts the lid off this bondage and gives a short, but direct, understanding in finding help for anyone facing the enslavement of lust without any lasting satisfaction.

Perseverance from Prison Pt. 2

“That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable to His death” Philippians 3:10.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon look at what it means to “know” Jesus as they examine Philippians Chapter 3.

Paul writes this letter to the saints in Philippi from prison. In this part of the letter, we find perseverance being expressed.

Once a relationship with the Lord is developed, then it takes perseverance from whatever prison you might be in to move on in growing in that relationship. All relationships take time, effort, interest, care, compassion, patience, etc. and definitely perseverance.

God is Not Fair

This week on Sharin’ Hearts: The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger pulls “God is Not Fair” by Joel Freeman to examine. The really big question is how do we live, as we are called to live if  God is not fair?  A beautiful, yet simple solution, awaits you as discover the answer.

We often hear our children complain about a situation  that did not go the way they thought it should and say, “that is not fair.”  Fair according to what standard?  Is there an alternative to being fair? God assures us that according to His standard “fairness” must yield to justice under His loving wisdom.  Where did “fairness” become our “guiding light” for circumstances that happen in our lives?

The best of men have asked that question: Moses, John the Baptist, and even Job have all wondered why and how God allowed His Own to incur such horrible messes when they thought they were faithfully serving Him.

Joel Freeman portrays and outlines,  from start to finish,  of how we fall into this way of thinking as being justified by our own evaluations.  He uses examples from the logic of man to reveal the mind of God on where our thinking has a false view. “God Is Not Fair” awakens our conscience, in how the enemy can erode our seeking to explain the difficult things that happen.  This will hold the attention of anyone from 15-75 years.

Perseverance from Prison Pt. 1

“Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not troublesome, but for you it is safe” Philippians 3:1.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon move to Philippians Chapter 3 where Paul perseveres with the saints in Philippi. He reminds them of the things he has told them before. He shares with them the importance of pressing ahead and to keep God first in their life. He encourages them to rejoice in Jesus Christ, for He is the source of their joy.  You can be an earthbound Christian or a heaven-bound Christian; that is a choice we are given to make. The time that we have on this earth is the boot training camp where we are being trained on how the Lord has called us.

Heaven Part Two

This week on Sharin’ Hearts The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green continues with Part 2 of “Heaven” by Randy Alcorn. It will bring joy to our spirits and rest to our souls as we anticipate our forever together.

  • Eternal life in the immediate presence of the triune God.
  • All that diminishes the quality of life on earth will be gone in heaven.
  • The heights of joy on earth will be eclipsed in heaven.
  • Failure and its consequences will be a thing of the past.
  • No more temptations from the world, the flesh, and the devil.
  • Knowledge will no longer be limited.
  • The body will no longer suffer from mental, emotional, physical anguish.
  • Seeing our loved ones, making new relationships and getting acquainted  with those that paved the way before us.

HEAVEN IS BETTER BY FAR THAN THE BEST EXPERIENCES OF EARTH

Principles from Prison Pt. 2

“Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life” Philippians 2:14-16.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon continue their discussion in Philippians Chapter 2 where Paul shares principles for Christian living from prison.

There are many times that we are bound by chains that are not necessarily physical. It can be health issues, financial circumstances, or any number of situations that cause us to feel like we are in a prison. Paul gives us an example to live; in that although he was in chains, he still encouraged those around him.

It’s not always easy to wear a happy face when struggles are so difficult but when we spend time with the Lord and know what He thinks toward us, we can have hope and joy in the midst of those struggles.

Remember that Christianity is a journey we live out each day; growing, maturing, and working out our own salvation with fear and trembling.

Heaven Part One

This week on Sharin’ Hearts The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green begins to share insight into “Heaven” by Randy Alcorn.

Most of us believe there is an afterlife.  Even if the body returns to dust for an unknown period of time, we do live on; but where?  Luke 16 gives a description of one who chose to live for himself here on earth, and after dying, tells a grim story for those who reject the way of Life in Jesus Christ. In that same chapter, there is a great insight for those that trust, no matter difficult life was while walking on earth. Many that are confident in their home going to Heaven still have questions about facts of their future.

  • How do we Gain Entrance into Heaven?
  • Is Heaven a Place or a State of Mind?
  • Will We Know One Another in Heaven?
  • What Will Our Resurrection Bodies Be Like?
  • What Will We Do in Heaven?
  • What are the Mansions like that Await Us?
  • Who Will Receive Rewards in Heaven?

And so many more questions.  The Word is very specific on some issues and gives glimpses into other matters that cause us to need to know the Word and accept, by faith, our Heavenly Father when “unknowns” to us still exist.

Heaven by Randy Alcorn, define answers that bring great peace and comfort to those that want the “real deal”.

Principles From Prison Part 1

“If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any compassion and mercies, fulfill you my joy, that you be like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind” Philippians 2:1-2.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon move into Philippians Chapter Two where Paul shares some principles for Christian living from prison. This letter reveals a unity of love that Paul feels for the saints in Philippi.

Paul is sharing these principles so that the saints will be encouraged to care for one another. We can care for others with our prayers. We can be sensitive to the needs of others by understanding things from their perspective. Unity comes through the fellowship of the Spirit in these ways; prayer, sensitivity, comfort, love, and compassion. Let our joy be filled with all love.

Sharon shares a little more about the struggles she is facing with her diagnosis of cancer and moving forward with the cure through chemo.

This World-Playground or Battleground

This week on Sharin’ Hearts The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green explores “This World-Playground or Battleground” by A.W. Tozer.

We live in a time of great prosperity and one whole generation has known life as having it “your way” with “75 choices” of instant fulfillment. Society and culture offer options gratifying to the senses of pleasure, desire, lust, and comfort. When situations occur and threaten that lifestyle, especially for the Christian that accepts the world’s standard as their own, chaos and confusion with division brings unbelief and destruction to our faith. The focus is no longer centered in the Bible and person of Jesus Christ.

If you are a student of the Word you will know we are promised seasons of suffering, and a playground was never an option. Oh, yes, there awaits times of refreshing and a dimension so wonderful that our Lord Jesus declares in Ephesians 3:20, He is exceedingly abundantly able to do above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.  There is a life NOW that is worth the living when holding to the plan of God.  When we choose the world system for life untold loss awaits us, now and in the eternal purpose planned by God.

AW Tozer cuts through the glitz and glamor with an honest and balanced appraisal of desiring a playground rather than a temporal calling of a battleground.  We need to wake up and count the cost of believing that our God knows what is best for us, NOW AND FOREVER.

Prayers From Prison Pt. 2

“According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death” Philippians 1:20.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon continue their discussion on Philippians Chapter One and the prayers Paul shares from prison. The saints at Philippi are learning to boldly speak out as they see the way Paul is handling his circumstances in chains.

They are praying for Paul and their prayers are giving him strength, so they are sharing in the suffering with Paul for his deliverance.

Many of the circumstances that we face in life are not easy roads to travel but when we can suffer to the glory of God others are strengthened and encouraged to boldly stand in Christ. When we pray for each other through the trials, then we participate in their deliverance. How sweet it is when the saints work together in unity of Christ.

Things Which Become Sound Doctrine

This week on Sharin’ Hearts The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green takes a look at “Things Which Become Sound Doctrine” by Dwight Pentecost.

This study is based on fourteen tremendous words of faith. Words that have deep meaning in establishing our beliefs. This study was written because the average believer retreats from the word doctrine, feeling that it belongs to the seminary classroom or the minister’s library shelf. However, the believer is not “to be  carried to and fro by every wind of doctrine.” So to free us up in understanding and wisdom we need to become familiar with these foundational Truths of Scripture.

THINGS WHICH BECOME SOUND DOCTRINE by Dwight Pentecost offers simple explanations with clear examples that remove the “fear” in learning.

Prayers From Prison Pt. 1

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon look at Philippians Chapter One and the prayers Paul shares from his prison cell.

We can have joy in every trial that we go through as we allow God to give us strength to endure them. The sweetness of joy can overflow into our situation because of the promises we have in Christ. There is nothing more excellent than what the Cross of Christ has done for us. As we look at our situations in light of Paul’s words we can find the same hope he had from whatever “prison cell” we may be facing. Sharon shares her diagnosis of breast cancer and all that the Lord is teaching her along the way.

The Greatest Thing in the World

This week on Sharin’ Hearts The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green pulls “The Greatest Thing in the World” by Henry Drummond to take a look at Love.

The word LOVE has many different meanings in the Greek and are all translated into English without making a distinction.

EROS: From which we get the word erotic and is never used in the Bible.  It has to do with the love between a man and woman which embraces longing, craving, and desire.  We can love each other without having the ultimate love. Usually has sexual overtones, a need love.

STERGO: is only used 3 times in the New Testament and means love of kindred, especially of parents for children and children or parents.  The love between husband and wife and for others of close kindred. A love of family. Can still be lacking the ultimate love.

PHILEO: mainly denotes the attraction of people to one another who are close together both inside and outside the family.  It is a love of liking, an affection for someone or something that is the outgoing of one’s heart in delight to that which affords pleasure.  It includes concern, care, and hospitality to others and many times is a friendly love between members of the body of Christ.  However, as good as it is, we can still lack the ultimate true love of:

AGAPAO: The noun form is agape. “it is a love called out of a person’s heart by an awakened sense of value in an object which  causes one to prize it.” Love of approbation and esteem. A love that recognizes the worthiness of the object loved. This love is the soul’s sense of value and preciousness of its object. (Wuest)

Join Ginger as she opens our hearts to the wonders of “true love.” Hope it will create in you the hunger to live a life well pleasing.  Agape love is the love the Father desires we all mature in; with nothing lacking. “We love Him because He first loved us.”  Happy Valentine Day.

The Armor of Prayer Pt2

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints” Ephesians 6:18

Prayer is a part of the Armor. It’s not just about having a conversation with God; it’s about allowing God to be a part of every moment of our lives.

For those of us who have unknowns and pain there is a bigger picture of eternity where we can put our focus, knowing that we will all receive praise at the Judgment Seat of Christ.  No matter what happens, God can take what is meant for evil and turn it around for our good when we allow God, in prayer, to encourage us, sustain us, fulfill us, and to take each difficult step along the way.

There was nothing Job did to deserve affliction. He did not displease God. He was not full of sin. He did not get angry with God during his affliction. Job did not base his relationship with God on the blessings he received. Let’s try to look at our situation, struggles, trials and tribulations from heaven’s perspective. It’s not easy to change our perspective while in the midst of a battle, but with prayer and renewing of our mind, God can help us to see the bigger picture.

Know Why You Believe

This week on Sharin’ Hearts The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green pulls “Know Why You Believe” by Paul Little from the bookshelf to take a look inside.

If in today’s world you believe the Bible is from God and it is TRUTH, that is a good thing. However, if the time comes when you want to become a disciple, a learner, of what you believe to be true, then pushing forward is mandatory. If you desire to become a defender of WHAT you believe and taking the aggressive role in being able to present your case with conviction, then it is vital to know WHY you believe.

Global society is working very hard to wipe out absolutes from our history and moral values. We find ourselves regressing in our growth if we cannot understand and convey knowledge that will stand to man’s logic, reason, and rationalization. If what you believe cannot be proven by why you believe, then your creditability is destroyed. It is just another opinion.

When we are established in What we believe and Why we believe our foundation will be solid and well pleasing to God.  Furthermore, we will be equipped to do the good works we have been called to do and able to stand against the attacks from the enemy.  Knowing What and Why in our theology keeps us from being deceived because the Truth abiding in us sets us free. Without a solid foundation, we will be tossed about, falling into unbelief and confusion.

Listen carefully to the challenging discussion that causes us to question Why we believe.

The Armor of Prayer Pt1

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints” Ephesians 6:18.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon wrap up the Armor of God with Prayer. The final part of the Armor is prayer; it is the “glue” that holds all the pieces in place. We need more than just head knowledge; we need to be able to apply prayer in our lives. Since we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood, prayers need to go up on our own behalf so that we don’t wrestle within our own selves. Take thoughts captive and renew our mind in His word. Discussing the “Seven Wonders of Prayer” we find some reminders of Gods greatness. 1. There is no promise too hard for God to fulfill. 2. There is no prayer too hard for God to answer. 3. There is no problem too hard for God to solve. 4. There is no place (town or city) too difficult for God to move and revive. 5. There is no heart too hard for God to break. 6. There is no season of time too hard for God to repeat. 7. There is no prophecy too hard for God to fulfill. Every prophecy has been given to us in a promise.

Know What You Believe

This week on Sharin’ Hearts The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green pulls “Know What You Believe” by Paul Little from the bookshelf to take a look inside.

What has established your beliefs about WHAT you believe? Family tradition, something you read or heard in social media, Church and Sunday School teaching, or first- hand bible study.

So many today have a theology built on second-hand faith. We may not be true disciples or learners as we accept whatever we are told is Truth without the discipline of daily searching the Scriptures. WE must be waiting on the ultimate professor of faith, the Holy Spirit to enlighten the doctrines, tenants, history, the God of the Bible and timely truth. Do you really know WHO you worship and hopefully center your life around or is your God a God of convenience and comfort for your benefit only?

Most Christians today cannot defend their faith or beliefs, even though they believe. It is a scary world in the Church today. To think of a soldier not sure what the rules of engagement are, not knowing the people in charge of his company or platoon, not understanding any of the directives given or how to implement them, the war would not be won. We are facing the same crisis within the Body of Christ and the daily attacks are being met with indifference or little concern of what is on the horizon coming straight toward us. We are not prepared!!

Take time out today to start a new commitment to put on your armor and understand the purpose of wearing it. In this day and age, if you are not willing to be a soldier/warrior living in dependence under your Commander, life will be filled with defeat and anguish. Yes, Grace always abounds, but there are “rules” to grace being properly appropriated. GET GROUNDED in WHAT YOU BELIEVE!!

The Armor of God Pt2

“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” Ephesians 6:16-17.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon continue their discussion on the Armor or God. This second part focuses on the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. Ephesians Chapters 1-3 tells what the character of Christ has done for us. Ephesians Chapters 4-5 shows us how we can tell if we are appropriating the character of Christ. Now, in Ephesians 6, to activate is simple: We are in Christ, He is our all in all, so the weapons of our warfare is not something we go pull out of a drawer, or obtain in our own strength; it’s putting on Him, it’s putting on life. Satan’s power was completely broken at Calvary and we are blessed with that breaking (Satan has no power over us) Romans 6:6.

Major Bible Themes

This week on Sharin’ Hearts The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green pulls “Major Bible Themes: 52 Vital Doctrines fo the Scriptures Simplified and Explained” by Lewis Sperry Chafer from the shelf to discuss.

Can you explain or defend the Bible and its purpose?  Have you ever wanted to know more of God’s role in our lives, understand the different interactions  God the Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit share as they control, direct, and guide us through our time here on earth?  Most Christians lack the daily practical understanding of how God works.

Major Bible Themes addresses 52 questions we desperately need to rise up against the falsehoods that we are being asked to swallow as reality when in essence they are twisted fabrications of man’s thinking. Take some time out of life’s busy schedule and listen to what may be life-changing knowledge as the Holy Spirit grounds us in God’s Truth about Who He is and how He operates.  We will forever be going deeper and deeper into the depths of His grace as we are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

The Armor of God Pt1

“Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” Ephesians 6:11.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon expose some of the subtle ways the devil is tricking us. We don’t have to fall for his lies, we don’t have to surrender in defeat because we have access to the power of God and His armor is available to us; all we have to do is put on His armor and march forward in His power. We give the devil more credit than he deserves and too much say in our lives. We don’t have to sit in defeat and say “the devil has me down”! It’s time to get the Armor of God on and be the warriors we have been called to be.

Your Eternal Reward

This week on Sharin’ Hearts The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green takes a look at “Your Eternal Reward” by Erwin Lutzer.

There may be tears in heaven.  When we reflect on how we lived for Christ, we might weep on the other side of the celestial gates.  Although Christians have been justified by faith, Christ will still judge us for our “deeds done in the body whether good or bad.” How well or poorly we do here might indeed determine our status in heaven for all eternity.

Be prepared to have your understanding of the judgment seat of Christ challenged, provoked, and perhaps permanently changed.  Will you answer the heart of God that is seeking a bride who can sit with Christ on His throne and rule forever or will you be given a rebuke from Christ and have “shame at His coming?”  The choice is yours!!

The Holy Spirit in Prayer and Warfare Pt2

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” Ephesians 6:10-11.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon continue their discussion on the Holy Spirit in Prayer and Warfare. No one likes the idea of war, but since we are in a battle, we need the power to fight and that power is of God. To have the power of God we need to know the precious promises, how to put on the Armor so we can withstand the wiles of the devil, and to know, reckon, and apply the work of the Cross for us and in us. Afflictions are no excuse for not being a Warrior for Jesus Christ. He gives us marching orders, but we don’t have to take those alone, in our own strength, we take them within the power of God, in His strength, and that’s how we can win the battle. Let’s stop surrendering to the enemy and giving him ground in our lives. Instead, let’s surrender to God and take back the ground that belongs to us and fight within the power of God.   Let’s get our armor on, our weapon in hand, and march into battle prepared. The Wiles of the Enemy teaching handout.

The Holy Spirit in Prayer and Warfare

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take to you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand” Ephesians 6:12-13.

This week on Sharin’ Hearts Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon discuss the Holy Spirit in Prayer and Warfare. No one likes to go to war! There is a different level of awareness that is required in warfare situations that is not faced on the home front. Yet, if we really take a good hard look at our life we might find that we are surrounded by the enemy, and we’re taking on fire. We don’t know where to find cover or how to get our armor on. It seems easier to surrender in defeat and ask God why He allowed such an attack. Let’s think about customizing our Christianity to the specs God has given. Let’s get our armor on, our weapon in hand, and march into battle prepared.

Crazy Busy

This week on Sharin’ Hearts The Fireside Bookshelf, Ginger Green takes a look at Crazy Busy by Kevin DeYoung. This book begins with a root issue of our Beliefs. What we believe to be true can differ from what we KNOW to be  true. Life experiences can feed us misinformation about God.  If we do not rely on God solely for our every need, we become busy attempting to meet  our needs and establish our security through our own efforts. Scripture does not teach responsibility ….it teaches faithfulness.

As we desire to be faithful we can walk without fear of failure. If we go through periods of failure as we unscramble, we can claim the truth:  “if we are faithless, He will remain faithful. 2 Timothy 2:13

Author, Kevin DeYoung offers seven diagnoses to help you identify the areas of your life that are contributing to your special brand of “crazy busy” and the one thing necessary for lasting change.

The Holy Spirit Bears Witness

“But when the Comforter (Holy Spirit) is come whom I will send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, He shall testify of Me” John 15:26.

Today on Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon discuss ways that the Holy Spirit bears witness. How quietness in prayer is a vital key to unlocking the power of the Holy Spirit to be active in our lives. The three “P’s” to praying effectually in the Name of Jesus (in His power and authority) are; praying with His Purpose, accept His Process, and trust in His Performance. Changing our prayer life will ultimately change our life. It’s time to stop asking for so many blessings and start asking for a few marching orders.

I, Jesus

Chances are, Jesus isn’t who you think he is.  No matter what you have read before about this first-century rabbi from Nazareth, there is a good possibility that you have been misinformed.  In fact, maybe you have been wrong from the start about the most amazing man who ever walked the surface of the earth.

I, Jesus speaks in His own words, about Himself, His Purpose, His Nature, and His Mission.

If you desire and want an intimate relationship with Jesus as your First Love, then this is a valuable portrayal of our Savior,  Servant, Shepherd, Messiah, and King .

Importance of the Holy Spirit

“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” Colossians 1:27

Today on Woman to Woman, Janie and Sharon discuss the importance of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The Holy Spirit is in us to continue the work that Jesus began when He came. God the Father supplies our need, Jesus intercedes for us, and the Holy Spirit applies it in our life to be real. We are responsible for allowing the Holy Spirit to share with us the mind of Christ, cause us to bear witness of Christ, and prompt us to glorify God; just a few of the roles He plays in our Christian life. “Wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in there at: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads to life and few there be that find it” Matthew 7:13-14.

The Way of the Shepherd

Today, Ginger Green pulls The Way of the Shepherd by Don Baker from The Fireside Bookshelf to explore. We all need and want to be cared for by someone who really loves us.  We are made in His image where love is paramount. Understanding the ways of a shepherd and what he sacrifices in knowing every need of his sheep, being sensitive to their surroundings is what allows the sheep and lambs to lie down and rest in green pastures and drink the quiet still waters. Under the care of a good shepherd, sheep lie down in quiet and serene sense of gentle contentment.  “Godliness with “contentment is great gain.”

The Way of the Shepherd will bring delightful joy to the heart and the beautiful pictures captivating the message in each chapter. The beauty of the book is that it equally reaches out to the heart that is troubled or to a person struggling with the issues of life that must have a shepherd to protect and carry us, to a place of safety.  Expressed in the 23rd Psalm and illustrated for us is the correlation between sheep of the field and we as Christians being sheep of His pasture. Tension is released as we see we are never abandoned and always have the Shepherd there for us when we are unable to help ourselves.  Great comfort and understanding comes from practical illustrations that are given to David as he learned from his Great Shepherd.
